8 fallen tree haiku

fallen tree a piece of the sky also
-
fallen tree sunlight picks up a cracked white eggshell
-
a robin darts among its branches fallen tree
-
fallen tree birdsong fills the space between chainsaws
-
idling chainsaw's metallic rattle fallen tree
-
fallen tree the shadow cast by its absence
-
fallen tree and the wind blows what's left away
-
memory weighs more than sawdust fallen tree

  1. I love these Mark. That a 'fallen tree' can offer so many possibilities is testament to your 'poetic eye!' Great stuff.

  3. Thank you very much.
After a while in which I wasn't writing much, the universe decided to put a 70 ft horizontal tree in my path. Gave me something to think about!
I had a go at counting the rings on a chainsawed cross-section and it was certainly over sixty years old.
